Job Description

The Senior Packaging Engineer is responsible for supporting all global package design, development and testing for instruments and diagnostic kits, and all labeling development and implementation. This person will also serve as liaison between Development, Product Transfer, Manufacturing and Marketing. • Support all packaging-related systems and standard operating procedures. • Develop packaging and labeling from early development through commercial launch phases. • Perform package testing including leak, torque degradation, label adhesion, ink adhesion and ship testing, and create test protocols and reports. • Create and revise component specifications, create and revise bills of materials and submit change orders for review and approval. • Troubleshoot packaging and labeling-related issues in manufacturing. • Work with suppliers to create and revise packaging, specifications, artwork and tech drawings. • Keep up-to-date on DOT and IATA regulations for the shipment of hazardous materials. • Create and revise label artwork on in-house Sato and DataMax thermal transfer printers. • Participate on cross-functional teams that include Purchasing, Planning, Quality, Shipping, Marketing, Product Transfer, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Development and Project Management. • Create and execute packaging and system-related validation protocols and reports. • Create optimum pallet patterns for all products using Tops software. • Provide assistance in selection of packaging materials including plastic and glass primary containers, pouches & bags, labels, flyers, paperboard cartons, corrugated boxes & wood crates. • Assist failure investigations, and Non-Conformance and Corrective and Preventative Action reports. • Conduct bi-monthly Packaging and Labeling status update meetings for new and existing products. • Perform concept and design reviews for new packaging and labeling projects. • Create packaging and labeling mock-ups for Marketing and exec presentations. • Support Regulatory Affairs 510K submissions and new country registrations. • Review and approve supplier label, carton and box artwork proofs. Job Requirements Bachelor's, Master's or equivalent Degree in Packaging or Engineering • 7+ years hands-on experience in a high volume manufacturing environment • Experience in ISO13485 setting and Quality regulations environment • Proven track record of successfully driving packaging projects to meet business objectives on time • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clear project updates on a regular basis • The position requires a high degree of adaptability; creative decision-making; and technical problem-solving abilities
