Job Description

Cellular Research, Inc., is a biotechnology research and development company founded in 2011 by innovators from Silicon Valley and Stanford University, and was recently acquired by Becton Dickinson Genomics. Our mission is to revolutionize life science research by enabling high-precision molecular assays focusing on single cells and precious samples for application in basic research, drug discovery and clinical biology. Cellular Research has developed Molecular Indexing to deliver these new capabilities. This technology enables direct and precise counting of individual molecules, genes, chromosomes, and other genetic molecules in very small samples and individual cells.   As a Senior Bead Process Engineer in the Assay Development group, you will lead the development efforts associated with manufacturing of coupled magnetic beads for the RESOLVETM platform. You will interact with raw material suppliers, develop test methods for QC of incoming materials and evaluated and develop methods for scaling up for higher volume manufacturing.

  • Interface with suppliers and conduct evaluation of raw material
  • Develop test methods for QC of incoming, in-process, and finished goods
  • Characterize and optimize existing processes through hands-on experiments and design of experiment methodology
  • Support pilot production and lead the transfer of scaled process to manufacturing
  • Evaluate and develop process methods for higher volume scale-up
  • Lead team of automation engineers, manufacturing engineers, R&D, third parties to scale process
  • Work both independently and with different functional groups to define and validate key functional specifications
  • Some travel required to visit suppliers and interface with alternate BD sites for manufacturing

Requirements

  • A BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering or Molecular Biology and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience or a Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 2 years of experience is required.
  • Experience in the life-sciences, biotechnology industry supporting process development, design, scale-up, improvement and validation is preferred.
  • Experience in the production of magnetic or functionalized beads highly preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills required.
  • Experience with statistical process control and DOE techniques is a plus.
