Job Description

Fluxion is currently looking for a full-time Scientist to join our R&D team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and validation of our IsoFlux Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assay based on high efficiency circulating tumor cell capture. Sequencing experience is a must, using at least one of the leading NGS platforms (Ion Torrent, Illumina). The successful applicant will bring direct experience with key steps required for somatic mutation detection including: DNA amplification, purification, library preparation, operating sequencing instrumentation, data analysis and reporting.



Position Requirements

• PhD or MS in biology, genetics, or a related subject

• At least 2-3 years experience with NGS

• Ability to run/oversee NGS experiments from start to finish

• Direct, hands-on experience with wet lab processes (e.g. cell handling, sample extraction, QC, library/ template prep)

• Experience developing, testing and debugging the bioinformatics pipeline from variant calling to variant filtering and annotation

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and meticulous, methodical record keeping

• Ability to integrate into our team, and have cordial and clear interactions with colleagues, vendors and others outside the company


Preferred profile

• Experience at an NGS platform or service company is preferred, but academic experience will also be considered

• Experience with somatic mutation detection using targeted amplicon panels

• Experience running experiments in a CAP/CLIA regulated environment

• Experience with RNA-Seq

• Experience with other molecular biology analytical instrumentation (multiplexed PCR, digital PCR, etc.)
