How will you make an impact?
Our Oligo Process Development team develops, optimizes, and transfers synthesis, purification, formulation protocols to manufacturing labs for our Genetic Sciences Division. In this role you will be responsible for the Design and Development of DNA and RNA oligomer synthesis and purification methods, from feasibility studies through optimization, analytical QC, Verification & Validation, and manufacturing transfer. Our research projects will develop critical components of some of the tools used for molecular biology and human genetic research, pharmaceutical R&D, environmental studies, agricultural/food testing, and forensic analysis.
What will you do?
• Work in the laboratory on synthesis of oligonucleotides on DNA synthesizer
• Characterization, purification, analysis and in process quality control of oligonucleotides with HPLC, LC-MS and UV-VIS spectrometer
• Write protocols and reports, present data, interact with scientists from other groups
• Perform statistical data analysis using JMP program

How will you get here?
Education
B.S with 10+ years; M.S. with 6+ years; Ph.D. with 3+ years in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with industrial experience in R&D and/or process development in oligonucleotide chemistry, peptide chemistry (solid phase synthesis, IEX and RP purification)
Experience
• Strong analytical and purification method development
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in synthesis, purification (AKTA Explorer), and quality control of oligos or peptides
• Hands-on experience with operation of DNA synthesizer such as, AKTA OligoPilot and ABI 3900
• Hands-on experience with operation of HPLC (Agilent), LC-MS and UV-VIS spectrometer
• Writing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical plans/reports
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Ability to troubleshoot synthesis and purification problems
• Knowledge of Agilent, AKTA OligoPilot and AKTA Explorer software
• Knowledge of JMP statistical analysis software
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
