Job Description

As a member of the R&D Diagnostic Development team, the Scientist will plan and execute assay development projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology along with a proven track record in the development, optimization and implementation of complex assays in a clinical environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative R&D team working with cutting edge technology.


  • Conceive, develop, optimize and implement NGS-based diagnostic assays
  • Evaluate technical data quality and coordinate troubleshooting efforts, as needed
  • Perform secondary NGS data analysis and interpretation
  • Design model systems for proof-of-concept and analytical validation studies
  • Creatively generate new ideas for novel assays and technical improvements
  • Document all work in the form of project reports and lab notebook
  • Present data clearly and concisely at departmental meetings
  • Participate and present findings at scientific conferences
  • Publish scientifically relevant data in peer reviewed journals
  • Participate in the development of patent applications, if applicable


  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field and 5 years of related experience
  • At least 3 years assay development experience in an industrial setting
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in NGS library prep, sequencing and/or sequencing data analysis
  • Background in prenatal diagnostics or oncology strongly preferred
  • Project and resource management experience a plus
