Job Description: Scientist I
The Scientist I is responsible for analytical method development in support of programs for both ANDA and 505(b)(2) products. The work includes development of assay, impurities, in-vitro release, and identification methods using such techniques as HPLC and GC; and execution of solid state characterization using such techniques as PXRD, DSC, TGA. The Scientist I demonstrates ability to develop and execute analytical methodologies with minimal supervision, and provides coaching and mentorship to junior scientists. The ideal candidate has excellent laboratory recordkeeping and writing skills, is well-organized, maintains compliance to regulatory requirements, and manages his/her time well.
Additional responsibilities include: Method troubleshooting; authoring SOPs, protocols, reports, methods, and specifications; monitoring scientific literature for new breakthroughs and discoveries related to pharmaceutical analytical development; and identifying continuous improvement initiatives.
M.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or other related scientific field with a minimum of 3 years of industry R&D experience, or a B.S. degree in Chemistry (or science-related field) with a minimum of 5 years of related laboratory experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 2 years of HPLC method development and troubleshooting is required.
Familiarity with the following analytical methods including, but not limited to: HPLC, GC, SEM, XRD, DSC/TGA, FTIR, Raman, and particle sizing.
