Job Description

Codiak BioSciences is seeking a Scientist, Exosome Biology to help develop the company’s novel exosome-based therapeutic and diagnostic platforms. 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Driving research under the overall supervision of the Sr Director of R&D (with a dotted line to the Chief Scientist), to optimize exosomes the use as therapeutics, including the engineering and loading of therapeutic exosomes;

  2. Testing of these in biological systems in vitro, and subsequently in vivo;

  3. Participating in developing innovative solutions for exosome therapeutic design and experimental testing;

  4. Rigorous documentation of research methods and results;

  5. Active presentation of findings at internal and external meetings;

  6. Active participation in project teams, and contribution to reports, patent applications, and regulatory filings.

  7. Authorship of manuscripts and presentation of original work at scientific conferences and symposia.


PhD or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or similar discipline, ideally with relevant post doc research experience in the field of extracellular vesicles. This position requires a solid understanding of experiment design and fluency in the scientific concepts that underlie relevant methodological approaches, as well as the ability to design appropriate experiments to test hypotheses, especially those related to the characterization exosomes and the effects of exosomes in recipient cells. The successful candidate will have excellent organization and communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and an enthusiasm for problem solving. As part of a growing start-up company, the incumbent will be uniquely exposed to a broad range of activities both inside and outside of the laboratory.

Codiak BioSciences is leveraging recent advances in the biology of extracellular vesicles and their role in intercellular communication. Codiak aims to become the world’s leading company in developing exosomes as a new therapeutic and diagnostic modality for the treatment of a wide array of diseases, including cancer.
