Position Description 
The Scientist -Biopharmaceuticals will contribute to projects aimed at the identification of novel therapeutic strategies for biopharmaceutical delivery. This individual will be required to conceive, design and implement a range of cell-based, 3D tissue model, and skin explant studies as well as contribute to the development of pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology models to characterize topical/dermal biopharmaceutical delivery and evaluate drug candidates. This incumbent will need to interpret and analyze data sets and come forward with recommendations or understanding of the finding. Experience in the fields of biopharmaceuticals and dermal drug delivery are an asset. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with other Research Scientists and Associates, while taking personal responsibility for success of assigned tasks and projects. The person should be a highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Emphasis is on the ability to successfully perform experiments with minimal supervision, demonstrate leadership skills and interact in a team environment. The Scientist -Biopharmaceutical will be responsible for pharmacological studies using in vitro models. This individual will be performing translational/pharmacological studies in in vivo models.. S/he will be responsible for Scientific presentations/collaborations and personal development. 


A Ph.D. in biology or equivalent, with 2+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience is required; Or, a MS in Biology or equivalent with 4 years specific experience is required. The successful candidate is required to have experience with explants. Experience with skin models, including cell-based, 3D tissue models is preferred. Molecular Biology experience required. Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: Changes in RNA/protein expression levels, qPCR, ELISA, Western Blotting, etcetera. Experience with small animal handling desired, particularly for topical/dermal models. Experience in the field of dermal or transdermal drug delivery and development, particularly biopharmaceuticals is desired. Experience with immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging is desired. The successful candidate must work well in a team environment. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills required. The successful candidate must be, able to multitask effectively and be adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities required. Strong analytical thinking skills and ability to interpret scientific data required as is experience demonstrating strong computer and software skills.
