Job Description

A full-time position is available for a scientist with a background in genomics and molecular oncology and in the growing Cancer Genomics Program at Bio-Reference Laboratories.  The Cancer Genomics Program is a CAP/CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory dedicated to providing clinically useful, cost effective and rapid testing solutions to advance the field of personalized medicine.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience analyzing Genomics data and scientifically investigating the significance of genomic variants to support our tumor profiling program.   The position requires knowledge and skills related to analyzing and interpreting data from high complexity genomic techniques including next generation sequencing and arrays.  The primary role will be to perform scientific analysis of sequencing variants during review of cases with our team of molecular pathologists, laboratory directors and genetic counselors.  This will include: reviewing patient medical history, performing review of genomic data and helping maintain the active knowledgebase for variant interpretation.  Positive attributes include excellent organizational skills, a strong interest in learning, the ability to multi-task, and an ability to work independently.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. or M.D. with strong background in cancer biology, genetics, biochemistry, or molecular oncology.

  • Postdoctoral or other clinical work experience in Genomics is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly distill concise and succinct summaries from complex and potentially contradictory literature sources.

  • Must be comfortable using a variety of computational databases to aid in the interpretation of genomic variants

  • Previous experience working in a diagnostic laboratory desired, with experience reviewing medical literature and pathology reports a plus

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
