Job Description

Intelligent Bio-Systems, a QIAGEN Company is seeking candidates who will lead the development, implementation and optimization of DNA sequencing protocols on the GeneReader sequencer, QIAGEN's next generation massively parallel DNA sequencing platform for clinical applications. The successful candidate will be integral part of the assay development/sequencing team and will be responsible for protocol/experimental design, data analysis as well as overseeing routine operation and maintenance of GeneReader sequencers. This person will be interacting closely with the chemistry, molecular biology and software/engineering teams.


• Plan and execute complex experiments designed to optimize sequencing performance of GeneReader platform
• Conduct in depth analysis of results and draw conclusions
• Design, conduct and document results in accordance with Good Development Practice
• Present and communicate results/findings in internal R&D meetings
• Supervise 1-2 direct reports
• Interface with manufacturing and operations to ensure manufacturability of reagents
• Contribute to the development of intellectual property
• Collaborate closely with clonal amplification R&D group and other functional areas to meet project objectives
• Write technical reports and scientific publications/posters
• Produce and maintain proper project documentation in accordance with internal and external requirements

• Ph.D./MS in biochemistry/chemistry molecular biology, enzymology or related fields
• Relevant industry experience: 3-8 year industry experience (or equivalent) is preferred
• Strong hands-on experience in operating automated instrumentation
• Experience with NGS systems is a plus
• Proven ability to design, execute and correctly interpret complex experiments
• Excellent lab bench skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Self-motivated and rapid learner
• Ability to work in an energetic environment
