Job Description
  • Responsible for planning, implementing and directing the sales strategy and activities for the Food and Feed Safety organization to achieve sales objectives.

  • Provide market and customer feedback to the General Manager and staff managers on market opportunities, product competitiveness, customer needs, new product development opportunities, and product performance in the field.

  • Generate processes to ensure sales pipelines and funnels are appropriately vetted, captured and visible to the organization.

  • Provide monthly sales forecast to general manager and organization to drive manufacturing planning.

 

Essential Functions

  • Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.

  • Implements sales programs and works closely with distributors to develop aggressive field sales action plans.

  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.

  • Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.

  • Completes global sales operational requirements by working with distributors and staff based on forecasts and pipelines.

  • Works with Marcom and business leads in the development of marketing and promotional campaigns. Provides input on market and customer needs for the development of regional collateral.

  • Designs and implements strategic business plans that expands company’s customer base and ensures increased market share in target segments

  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting distributor and customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs

  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team

  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Requirements
  • Must be educated to Bachelor’s  degree level or (or ideally Master’s degree) in Business Administration or Science with at least 5 years of direct sales experience in microbiology and/or food safety markets

  • Proven track record  as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets

  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization

  • People management experience – will initially manage 1 reportee but expect team to grow

  • Strong domain knowledge in the Food Safety market and customer needs
