The SAS will serve as a technical product and laboratory workflow expert. The SAS will assist the Sales team in exceeding sales targets of instruments and associated consumables through 1) actively addressing all application inquiries from prospects and customers and 2) conducting commercial activities such as demonstrations, workflow studies and road shows.


Education level – minimum of Bachelor of Science or equivalent (PhD/Masters preferred).

3+ years of proven practical, in-depth experience of various molecular techniques and applications, such as next generation sequencing (NGS), nucleic acid purification, (real-time) PCR, (pyro)sequencing, capillary gel electrophroesis, genotyping, and gene-expression technologies in a laboratory setting.

Hands-on experience with QIAGEN instrumentation (specifically PyroSequencing, real-time PCR and purification technologies) strongly preferred.

3+ years of successful industry experience (e.g. Technical support, R&D, or Application Specialist role) .

Conduct technical software and hardware demonstrations at customer sites, tradeshows and scientific meetings.

Proven ability to support sales discussions with Lab Technologists, Managers, Directors, Senior Management and Finance.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

Proactively communicate market information, trends and new product ideas through relevant channels.

Utilize the CRM database to input and provide information that will increase effectiveness in front of the customer and aid sales.

Ability to work in teams, across sales channels and autonomously.

Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills for all business levels.

Willingness and ability to take on additional responsibilities and undertake challenging tasks and/or global projects.

Contribute to accurate forecasting by supplying relevant opportunity information to Sales Specialists and Sales Management.

Ability to lift ~50lbs.

60-80%+ of time spent in the field, willingness to travel and valid driving license required.

Proven work experience in developing (internal and external) customer relationships
