A laboratory in our Basic Sciences Division focuses on how nuclear organization, chromatin structure and gene regulation are linked, with special emphasis on changes that occur with differentiation. The laboratory utilizes a wide range of in vitro and in vivo systems. Experimental approaches include molecular and cellular biology techniques, biochemistry and microscopy. This position will require working with a murine colony.
The research technician will work under the direction of multiple laboratory personnel. This individual will work semi-independently on key aspects of 2-3 projects for which they will take the lead on some. Detailed record keeping is essential. To be successful in this laboratory, the technician must be interested in being responsibility for performing a wide range of techniques, taking the lead in trouble shooting, have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within an interactive team environment.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated, reliable and productive when working with intermittent supervision.
1) Bachelor's degree with at least two year of hands-on laboratory experience in a related field,
2) Comfort and willingness to work with murine models and husbandry related tasks,
3) Experience with tissue culture and cell culture, including primary cells,
4) Proficiency performing and analyzing data from basic molecular and cell biology techniques such as quantitative real-time-PCR, ChIP, and flow cytometry,
5) Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work semi-independently.
Experience with murine husbandry and/or complex tissue culture systems is desirable but not necessary.
