Job Description

Research Technician I – Systems Neuroscience

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an intellectually curious and highly motivated candidate for a research technician opening at Adam Kepecs’ group starting April 2019 or later. The Kepecs Lab uses cutting edge tools from systems neuroscience including electrophysiology and optogenetics to investigate neural circuits and computations underlying decision making. The technician will work closely with two post-docs in conducting experiments as well as perform general research and laboratory tasks.

Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in biological or quantitative sciences (e.g. Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics).

EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have made a contribution to a research project in their field at the undergrad level. Prior experience with techniques used in the lab is valued but not required.

SKILLS: Strong analytical and organizational abilities as well as interpersonal and teamwork skills. Programming and quantitative skills are highly valued.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The ideal candidate will independently conduct experiments using a range of tools, including rodent operant training, electrophysiology, optogenetics, stereotactic surgery and histology, as well as analyze and present data. Responsibilities include general laboratory organization and maintenance.
