The Herbert and Florence Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics of Columbia University invites applications for Professional Officers of Research (Open Rank) position in computational aspects of cancer research.
The Herbert and Florence Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics (IICD) is an interdisciplinary institute located on the Morningside Heights campus of Columbia University and focused on the interplay between mathematical sciences and cancer research, collaborating across disciplinary boundaries to develop aspects of science, engineering and the social sciences that can improve our understanding of cancer biology, origins, treatment and prevention.
The IICD invites applications from researchers who have strong research expertise in an application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and related statistical methods in any aspect of cancer research, including, but not limited to, early detection, cancer immunology, and spatial single cell technologies.
To this end, we expect successful candidates to:
- Conduct independent, cutting-edge research in cancer data science (75% effort)
- Support the mission of the Institute on developing the interplay between mathematical sciences and cancer research, through contributions to outreach and training (15% effort)
- Identify and attract external funding to support their research program (10% effort)
Candidates for Associate Research Scientist are strongly encouraged, but not required to have postdoctoral experience. Candidates for Research Scientist should have made substantial contributions in their field and have experience in collaborative research and in training students, postdocs or researchers. Candidates for Senior Research Scientist should be established in their field and have extensive experience of collaborative research and in training students, postdocs or researchers.
