Job Description

At Recursion, our mission is to leverage automated biology and computational methods to accelerate the discovery of therapeutics for patients with thousands of diseases.

As part of our team, your high-level job description has only one item: do whatever is necessary to help us progress in identifying cures for diseases. We hire the best, and trust that they are usually in the best position to decide what to try next.

What you'll do:

Our approach to scalable, high-throughput biology allows us to rapidly find potential treatments for many diseases at a rate upwards of one disease per month. Our innovation team identifies new cell types and high throughput assays to advance the therapeutic boundaries of our platform, then performs platform-enabling pilot experiments to validate new assays before handing them off to the high throughput biology team. The high throughput team streamlines our assays and performs them at scale, identifying hits with unprecedented efficiency. Finally, our validation team prioritizes our hits for further development using the most up-to-date techniques.

As a Research Scientist, you’ll work with one of these teams to generate ideas and insights that will drive Recursion’s future growth. Your role will involve planning and executing experiments within that team, as well as working cross-functionally with data scientists to ensure we deliver the very best for the company and our partners.

  • Keen ability to understand the big picture.
  • Specific knowledge or experience relevant to your team.
  • Demonstrable creative and independent thinking skills, along with extreme intellectual curiosity and internal motivation.
  • Ability to converse and understand science and technology at a broad level, as in depth interactions with our computational team are a must, and we love stealing good ideas from diverse fields.
  • An ability to harness all of your passion, exuberance and love for science into an extreme focus on our singular goal of finding treatments for hundreds of diseases quickly.
  • A passion for working in a fast-paced start-up culture where you’ll leverage creativity and independent thinking to find answers wherever you can.
