Job Description

Clontech is looking for an energetic – hands on – research associate to join our research team to assist in the development of novel research reagent systems and kits. Candidate will use their excellent bench skills to work with research staff in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments aimed at developing new tools and reagents for molecular biology and next generation sequencing (NGS).   



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use technical expertise to conduct experiments with other scientific staff

  • Analyze, interpret, and report on data obtained from experiments

  • Maintain an accurate and detailed lab notebook enabling other scientists to reproduce results

  • Participate in the preparation of technical documents including work instructions and user manuals

  • May provide technical training to laboratory personnel and others within the company

  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques and theories


Education / Experience /Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Cell Biology

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a laboratory research environment in either industry or academia

  • Broad practical experience and knowledge in common molecular biology laboratory procedures  (nucleic acid isolation, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR), as well as NGS (sample preparation, library preparation, instrument experience)

  • Able to contribute to the design experimental plans, including appropriate controls

  • Self-motivated; possesses a strong sense of urgency to drive a project to completion under tight deadlines and a clear ability to prioritize tasks accordingly

  • Strong organizational, record keeping and communication skills.

  • Sound analytical, problem solving and judgment skills

  • Collaborative  personality with strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated interest and/or ability to rapidly learn new technologies to broaden skill-sets and areas of knowledge
