Job Description

Twist Bioscience is an exciting San Francisco based (Mission Bay area) start-up company with a disruptive expertise in Synthetic DNA. Twist Bioscientists are helping scientists change the world by developing applications of Synthetic DNA that address health and sustainability problems based on innovative and high-throughput technologies. We are growing and are looking for an outstanding individual to fill our Research Associate, R&D position.   

As a member of the R&D Bio/Chem team, Research Associate will support the R&D molecular biology team developing custom DNA-based applications and assays for synthetic biology including high-throughput gene synthesis, high-throughput cloning, NGS-based QC, etc.



Required Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely-related field with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience; or Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Direct experience with NGS and sample preparation for NGS. 
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques including DNA purification, DNA quantification, PCR/qPCR, enzymatic assays, and molecular cloning.
  • Excellent communication skills. Proficient in writing, and communicating in the English language; able to present data effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Respectful and open to others’ views; contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Excellent documentation skills. Able to prepare documents including data summaries, technical and analytical reports, and transfer the procedures to manufacturing.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and passionate about your work.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with a LIMS database .
  • Experience with liquid handling systems and automation tools.
