Provides longitudinal comprehensive nursing care to oncology/hematology patients. Has primary nursing responsibility for the coordination of the care and monitoring the status of a specific population of patients. Has responsibility for the education of patients and family. Acts as primary point of contact for patients, working collaboratively with their physicians.
- Assesses the physical, emotional and social needs of patients'/families' responses to illness and treatment.
- Uses assessment data to collaborate with care team and develop a plan of care to meet the needs of complex outpatients.
- Coordinates care with multidisciplnary team as well as with outside facilities to assist with safe, high-quality and seamless care.
- Maintains primary responsibility and coordination for education required for patient and family.
- Current Washington State Nursing License
- OCN certification preferred
- Bachelors of Science, Nursing preferred
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider card
- Two years of oncology nursing experience required
- Hematology experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work under pressure related to work/time deadline
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a variety of patients and other staff
- Ability to be flexible
- Competent in telephone triage, assessment and communication
- Competent in basic computer skills
