Job Description

The Product Transfer Associate will combine knowledge of basic molecular biology with a technical understanding of Cepheid systems to play a key role in product sustaining and support within the Product Transfer group. Support Manufacturing, Quality and Planning Departments in assuring the continued production of cost-effective quality products. Identify and implement streamlined and improved processes.


Successfully implement assay/process/engineering/product improvements in Production, including:

  • Create and update manufacturing and test procedures
  • Document and transfer reagent formulations into manufacturing
  • Provide training to Production and Quality personnel
  • Develop Bills of Materials and implement them in Production
  • Seek and implement process improvements within Manufacturing and QC
  • Troubleshoot and perform hands-on laboratory experiments
  • Coordination of multidisciplinary teams is often required.
  • Provide coordination of Operation activities as needed to support projects






Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Life Science or a related discipline with 7+ years of relevant professional experience. Master's degree in Bioengineering, Life Science or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant professional experience. Or, equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as biotechnology, bioengineering, medical device, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Hands-on experience in Operations functions, including a solid understanding of batch records, bills of materials, logistics and inventory parameters, costing parameters, document management systems, ERP systems, etc.
  • Proficient level with scientific functions in Microsoft Excel, and high agility in all other basic MS Office software. Proficient in the management/sorting/filtering/manipulation of large amounts of data in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to successfully lead multiple projects simultaneously towards completion within short deadlines.
  • The ability to work proficiently in a lab environment working with PCR and assay troubleshooting.
