Product Specialist/Senior Product Specialist, Molecular Diagnostics

Job Summary:

Vela Diagnostics has exciting opportunities for individuals with molecular diagnostics experience to be part of the Global Product Management team and to support global product launches. The role would primarily be assisting in the development of product launch materials and supporting internal stakeholders in product-related queries. The secondary function would be working with the regional teams in gathering customers and market requirements to identify product features and functionalities for new development pipeline.

Headquartered in Singapore, with regional offices in Europe and USA, we are a rapidly growing provider of standardized molecular diagnostics solution for laboratories. Our innovative products enable clinicians to provide targeted therapies in infectious diseases and cancer.

The Product Specialist/Senior Product Specialist role will help to define the product vision, and work closely with internal stakeholders (R&D, sales & marketing, service & support, regulatory affairs) to ensure product rollout runs smoothly. This role requires strong grasp and understanding of assay design (target genes in the context of diseases diagnostics), automated liquid handler (sample extraction), sequencing and PCR reactions, bioinformatics, as well as software for result interpretation.

You will need to have solid knowledge in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology, help to build products from existing ideas and to refine product features based on industry experience and interaction with customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development of product launch materials such as product slides for internal training and external presentation, launch package to guide sales & marketing team on product rollout detailing products functionalities, value proposition, competitive advantage and target market segment

  • Ensure product launch readiness through internal alignment with R&D, software, engineering, production, technical writing, regulatory affairs

  • Communicate product rollout effectively to sales & marketing team and support all internal queries on product related matters

  • Assist with research and documentation of product requirements, development of product technical documentation

  • Gather market intelligence, analyze competitive landscape

  • Assist with global demand planning by working with the regional teams and consolidating regional demand forecast

  • Work with internal stakeholders in contributing towards achievement of Company strategy and business plan


Job Requirements & Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in genomics, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, bioinformatics or equivalent

  • Prior experience in NGS/PCR technology or in-depth understanding of NGS/PCR technology

  • Aptitude to present product information to internal stakeholders with varying levels of experience is critical. Previous experience working with end-users would be a distinct advantage

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast moving interdisciplinary team and can maintain productivity under tight timeline 

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, with strong technical documentation capabilities

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Candidates with at least 1 or 2 years of experience in Molecular Diagnostics field or molecular laboratory will be at advantage

  • Fresh graduates with prior internship experience in molecular biology or bioinformatics may be considered
