Based in our San Diego office, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the Product Manager position. This role will be responsible for the product lifecycle, strategic and tactical marketing strategy of flow cytometry/immunology product lines. Defining the product line strategic vision, gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, outlining market campaigns, and working with R&D to develop and launch new products are key activities. The product manager must ensure that the product line and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned.):
The individual will work closely with the Director of Marketing and other marketing team members to ensure product line strategic and tactical goals are met. The primary focus of this Product Manager role is dedicated to tactical marketing; defining product market campaigns, developing sales and education tools, performing sales and technical training as needed. The position also requires maintenance of products through their lifecycle, from launch through discontinuation, pricing, promotion, providing forecasts (both planning and sales) and revenue reports as requested. In a secondary role, but with equal importance, this person will collaborate with the strategic lead product manager to define the strategic position for the flow cytometry/immunology product lines, including a multi-year roadmap and maintenanc e and progression of the approved plan.
The individual will have primary responsibility for understanding the marketplace for their assigned product line and staying abreast of changes in the competition as well as changing customer needs. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. The product manager develops new ideas, recommends changes to product line offerings and marketing plans, based on marketplace feedback.
You will define and coordinate the go-to-market strategy alongside regional marketing and marketing communications to build and support product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with and through the sales channel, developing relationships with key opinion leaders and customers.
It is critical for the product manager to display a high level of critical thinking in cross-functional process and build strong working relationships with Sales, Regional Marketing, Customer Service, Technical Support and Operations to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
* Bachelor’s degree in a biological discipline and 2+ years industry experience (M.B.A. or MS a plus)
* Recent knowledge or work experience in the applications of flow cytometry and areas of immunology
* Experience in reagent product development, strategic and tactical planning, and implementation
* Required travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America, Europe and Asia (25%)
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
