Job Description


The Digital PCR Product Manager is responsible for the product planning, market development and product marketing of the RainDrop Digital PCR System. This includes managing the portfolio throughout the lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with R&D to deliver differentiated products to the marketplace. The dPCR Product Manager's job includes engaging Key Opinion Leaders and globally driving dPCR adoption and sales. He/she will use their business knowledge and experience to deliver initiatives with impact that increases placements and grows consumables utilization. The job scope also includes working with sales, marketing communications and field support to ensure that revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.



The Product Manager is expected to:

  • Play a key role in implementing successful First Access Program for new applications

  • Actively engage Key Opinion Leaders in all sales regions

  • Define product strategies and roadmaps. Conduct market analytics and market research initiatives that validate the company’s strategic direction in digital PCR.

  • Develop and deliver business cases for products that extends the portfolio and adds value and differentiation to the product line

  • Deliver customer and product requirements with prioritized features and corresponding justification

  • Become a subject matter expert with competing dPCR platforms as well as technological alternatives. Work with KOL’s to identify ‘killer’ applications for dPCR and establishing RainDance in a leadership position in these applications.

  •  Responsible for gathering real-time competitive intelligence on technologies, platforms, companies and applications.

  • Develop core positioning and messaging for the RainDrop dPCR Product Line

  • Set pricing strategy to meet revenue and profitability goals

  • Develop sales tools and collateral; establish a publication strategy that drives adoption

  • Work with the Market Communications Manager on .promotional and launch campaigns

  • Brief and train the sales force at quarterly sales meetings

  • Build up reference sites and establish Centers of Excellence

  • Drive business expansion through effective collaboration with Application Support, Sales and Marketing


  • BA or MS degree: PhD in life sciences is a plus

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in product management or related experience in the Life Science market

  • Knowledge and experience in the oncology market segment; as well as an understanding of the Personalized Medicine movement and the associated lever points

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching genomics/life science products

  • Knowledge and experience with design control processes and QSR standards.

  • Business case development and basic financial analysis skills

  • Strong teamwork skills, able to collaborate in a cross-functional team environment and foster collaboration

  • Solid organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Corporate Headquarters is in Billerica, MA and it is be expected that this position will have a significant presence at this location. A satellite office will exist in the San Diego for a defined period of time, to be determined
