Job Description

Clontech Laboratories, Inc., located in Mountain View, is a developer of molecular biology reagents and supplies.  Clontech has an opportunity for a marketing professional to join our Product Management team.  The successful candidate will be leading a worldwide team to manage and build a portfolio of products directed to researchers who utilize cloning in their research.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, define and execute a market development strategy for a family of products that includes kits, cells and other general reagents that are used by customers in research, biotechnology and drug development.

  • Work with sales team to provide training and sales tools necessary for the sales team to actively promote and sell to customers in research institutes and commercial entities.  

  • Attend appropriate conferences and engage key opinion leaders; particularly for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. 

  •  Lead the development and implementation of marketing campaigns for cloning-related products including but not limited to seminars, technical notes, web content and promotional campaigns.

  • Conduct market research and report on developing market opportunities and provide direction to product development activities.  Create plans and strategies for taking advantage of market opportunities.  Research and provide strategies to mitigate competitive threats.

  • Be a member of a worldwide team responsible for actively engaging and taking advantage of opportunities with global customers.

  • Degree in biological sciences required, Ph.D. highly desirable; research experience utilizing cloning considered favorably. 

  • At least 2 years product management or equivalent experience is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze markets for opportunities and translate those findings to marketing strategies and or product development.

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex programs with a high level of attention to detail required.

  • Travel required (approximately 10%) both in North America and international.
