Job Description

GRAIL, Inc. is developing paradigm-changing clinical assays for early cancer detection, based on unique biological insights from high-intensity sequencing analysis of circulating cell­-free nucleic acids. We are seeking passionate and talented individuals to join us in realizing our mission, which has the potential to dramatically reduce the global burden of cancer. We currently have three different openings in our Biostatistics group for a Senior, Principal and Lead Biostatistician to provide statistical expertise and statistical solutions to clinical projects, including the design and analysis of the clinical development and validation studies in support of GRAIL products. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Participate and contribute to clinical strategies for GRAIL product development. Collaborate with internal and external thought leaders in the design, analysis, interpretation, and publication of clinical studies. Contribute to protocols, statistical analysis plans, study reports, presentations, and publications of clinical studies. Serve as a member of clinical study teams. Stay abreast of industry and academic developments in the Statistical Genomics field and apply to clinical study design and analysis. PREFERRED BACKGROUND 5+ years of experience in academia or industry. Molecular diagnostics industry experience preferred. PhD in Biostatistics or equivalent. Strong knowledge of theoretical and applied statistics. Knowledge of applicable regulatory rules and guidelines, e.g., ICH, GCP, HIPAA. Experience programing in SAS or R. Strong team player with demonstrated track record of success in cross­-functional team environment.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or related field is required. 10+ years relevant industry experience required. Highly regarded in statistics / NGS / bioinformatics field for both scientific and technical method contributions. Proven track record of designing industrial grade next generation sequencing data analysis solutions. Proven track record of innovation as evidenced by patents, publications, and products. Domain expert in statistics as applied to analysis of NGS data. Demonstrated ability to work with assay teams; has an in depth understanding of assay performance and improvement methods. Deep knowledge of both academic and commercial statistics and informatics solutions. History of success working in cross-functional teams. Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed, ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical end-users.
