Given its huge potential to improve the lives of Canadians and strengthen the economy, genomics is an essential component of the nation’s science, technology and innovation agenda.

Based in Ottawa, you will add your own passion for innovation to this not-for-profit organization as it acts as a catalyst for developing and applying genomics and genomic-based technologies for the benefit of Canadians.

Genome Canada connects ideas and people across public and private sectors to find new uses for genomics, invests in large-scale science and technology to fuel innovation, and translates discoveries into solutions across key sectors of national importance, including health, agriculture, forestry, fisheries & aquaculture, energy, mining, and the environment.

As President and CEO, you will take on a front and centre national role, working in collaboration with six regional Genome Centres, as you generate support and excitement for this breakthrough field.  One of your missions is to work with key stakeholders including federal and provincial government departments, research funding agencies, industry, research and academic institutions and international partners to secure financial support and advance the field of genomics.

As a visible and vocal advocate of genomic research, you will speak with a wide range of stakeholders about its incredible power and potential.  You will inspire governments, researchers, the public and private sectors to further Canada’s global recognition as a pioneer and job creator in this scientific sector.

In addition to your knowledge of and passion for genomic science and research, you have built credentials as a progressive organizational leader and collaborative business partner with diverse sectors.  With Genome Canada, you will act as a bridge between sources of funding and the research project leaders who are creating the breakthroughs that will benefit Canada now and in the future.  You will have the chance to leave your mark on this crucial branch of science and technology that is changing our world.

A relevant graduate degree is required and a PhD is preferred as well as a minimum of 10 years senior leadership experience. A graduate degree in business and/or management would be an asset.
