Job Description

Are you passionate about engineering and repairing life? Inventing technologies and editing the genome? The Hsu Lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA ( works at the intersection of bioengineering and genomics to interrogate the human genome, develop precision genetic therapies, and invent new technologies for genome and transcriptional engineering.

Position Description: We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in developing and applying novel molecular technologies to systematically reverse-engineer cellular processes through rapid and precise perturbations (Hsu Cell 2014). This position is part of a National Institutes of Aging-funded team to establish and characterize stem cell-derived models of Alzheimer’s disease using high-throughput genome editing and CRISPR-based functional genomics screens. We aim to mechanistically define genetic pathways that collaborate to induce neuronal degeneration, and identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention.


Education: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and experience in stem cell biology and molecular/cellular biology.

Experience: Significant experience with mammalian tissue culture, molecular biology and genomics techniques (cloning, RNA-seq, ChIP, etc.), and a stem cell biology or neurobiology background is preferred.
