Metabolism affects a variety of fundamental cellular process in ways that still needs to be discovered. Transport of metabolites through membranes is a process that links the environment with changes in chromatin and gene expression. We have identified technologies and approaches that allow us to study this connection in a systematic way.
To join the laboratory of the Scientific Director, Giulio Superti-Furga, we are looking for a
POSTDOC FELLOW IN REGULATION OF CELLULAR METABOLISM
In particular, we are looking for biochemists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, chemical biologists and cell biologists.
-) A recent successful PhD in biochemistry, chemistry or biology and significant experience either in research on metabolism or gene regulation/epigenetics/genome integrity.
-) Interest in CRISPR/Cas9 and haploid genetic screens affecting metabolic regulation in cancer and immunity.
-) Expertise in statistical computational evaluation of complex datasets, data integration and innovative data visualization is considered an advantage.
-) Excellent communication skills and social skills are absolutely required.
You will seize the opportunity to access a unique and innovative technological set-up combining chemistry, biochemistry, metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, high-content microscopy, bioinformatics, signalling and clinical expertise to effectively decipher the relationship between metabolism and transporters with the regulation of genome expression and integrity. The candidate is supposed to work on a project, the feasibility of which has already been proven, and is part of a collaboration with the laboratories of Stefan Kubicek and Joanna Loizou.
The successful candidate will join an international and dynamic group whose research is acknowledged in several top tier papers (Nature, Cell, Nature Chemical Biology, Nature Immunology etc.) and an advanced ERC grant. In recent years, postdocs leaving the lab went on to run independent labs at EPFL, at Max-Planck, at the Moffitt in Tampa, in the pharmaceutical industry and in biotechnology companies, among others.
