Job Description

The role 

DNA Script is looking for a talented research assistant in organic chemistry to join the Nucleotide Chemistry team. Under the supervision of the Modified Nucleotide Team Leader, you will be in charge of synthesizing multiple types of modified nucleosides/nucleotides. You will also perform quality analysis and purification using chromatography techniques (FC and HPLC) while maintaining detailed documentation of all work processes. 

Responsibilities 

  • Synthesis of organic molecules/precursors needed for the production of modified nucleotides 
  • Purification of organic molecules using column chromatography and reverse phase HPLC 
  • Characterization of molecules (TLC, NMR, HPLC, LC/MS, …) 
  • Conduct experiments following existing established protocols. Test as well new protocols 
  • Hold a lab notebook and write detailed procedures and technical reports to consolidate the results and interpretation 
  • Participate to the order and inventory of chemicals to maintain stock in the chemistry laboratory 
  • Perform maintenance of certain equipment of the laboratory 
  • Work according to GLP standards

Qualifications and experience 

Essential 

  • Bachelor Degree in the field of organic chemistry 
  • Use of Microsoft Office and Chem Office 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large multi-disciplinary team 
  • Good understanding and speaking of English 
  • Excellent organisation 
  • Highly motivated candidate with passion for science 
  • Willing to learn to new science areas

Desirable 

  • Experience on nucleoside/nucleotide chemistry
