Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety and Security
The Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety and Security will report directly to the Director of Facilities and EHS&S as a key member of the senior leadership team at the Kansas City site.
The Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety and Security must be a creative and proactive contributor, while remaining focused on continual improvement showing the highest level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm while striving to maintain the safest working environment possible.
This position requires communication with employees at all levels including Corporate, other Catalent sites and different agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DEP, DEA and Fire Department. This position also manages safety associates and the site security staff members. The Role (Essential Functions):
•Take action/steps to identify, assess and recommend control measures or corrective action(s) for environmental, health and safety concerns.
•Conduct/support hazard identification and risk assessments that apply to task, departments, and the overall site that includes but is not limited to: chemical use, machine safeguarding, ergonomics, walking-working surfaces, material handling, etc, to reduce the risk and prevent work related injuries and illnesses.
•Chair of safety committee, and maintains visibility of the safety program and open lines of communications with all employees in regard to safety.
•Conduct/support EHS&S audits, inspections, hazard assessments and investigations of violations as required and make recommendations based off findings.
•Lead incident and accident investigations assuring corrective actions are taken to minimize or prevent similar future incidents. Ensure all incident data is loaded into Entropy corporate software.
•Responsible for current knowledge of local, state and federal regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, NFPA, RCRA, ANSI, FDA, GMP, etc.
•Maintain the accident records and files necessary to back up the OSHA 300 log and any other OSHA requirement. Evaluate cases to decrease the accident rate using safety assessments, industrial hygiene sampling and following OSHA regulations and Catalent Guidelines.
•Assist and guide internal and external customers with regards to Environmental Health Safety and Security issues, including special projects, new products, and complaints or concerns.
•Conduct necessary assessments, inventories and inspections for various environmental and safety regulations.
•Ensure up to date Job Hazard Assessments and risk assessments are in place for all processes in conjunction with site management.
•Manage the Industrial Hygiene program.
•Coordinate medical surveillance and occupational health program
•Manage the environmental compliance program to ensure compliance on programs such as CAA, CWA, and RCRA.
•Develop and conduct training programs and the training of staff at all levels, including new hires, on company safety policies, practices, and programs.
•Chair of the site Crisis Management and Business Continuity program.
•Manage RCRA compliance in the facility, including waste handling and manifest management.
•Prepares monthly inspections and reports to comply with current environmental permits such as air and wastewater.
•Assist in developing new EHS related programs and procedures following OSHA, EPA and Catalent Guidelines.
•Submits environmental permit applications and renewals to the proper authorities in conjunction with Environmental consultant.
•Manage Facility Security Systems, such as, fire, card and key access control, and CCTV monitoring system.
The Candidate (Requirements):
•Bachelors Degree and 5-10 years experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing/industrial related field.
•Have knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and their purpose.
•Strong analytical skills including computer skills, verbal and other communication and leadership skills.
•On call as the 24-hour emergency contact person.
•Knowledgeable about regulatory topics (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, FDA, GMP, etc).
•Liaison with federal, state, local and county inspection agencies pertaining to environmental, health and safety.
