Job Description
  • Selects, supervises and develops clinical science staff through hands-on coaching and training.
  • Provides daily support and direction to laboratory staff in performing daily laboratory tasks. Ensures appropriate continuing education for direct reports to improve skill development in assay techniques.
  • Fosters a unified laboratory culture that celebrates mutual success, collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Has an eye for details and supports quality control measures. Maintains safety and regulatory compliance within the laboratory.
  • Uses knowledge of molecular biology that underlies an assay to troubleshoot erroneous assay results.  
  • Participates in new assay development.
  • Recommends and enforces policies and procedures for pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing to ensure competency in lab specimen processing and reporting.
  • Collaborates with the executive team when allocating budget and making purchasing decisions. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, or similar field.
  • Eight (8+) or more years of previous experience in molecular diagnostics or genetic carrier screening laboratory with at least three (3+) or more years of previous leadership experience in managing and motivating teams.
  • Driven to explore new ways of approaching work that can improve results, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • A process-driven mindset. Our ideal candidate is highly detailed and organized with ability to manage projects, tasks and time well.
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively within out close-knit team.
