Job Description

Lucigen seeks a high-energy problem solver with great communication skills to join its growing team as an inside sales manager. This position will lead customer-focused efforts and programs in collaboration with a dynamic team of key account managers (KAM’s) to support customer on-boarding, customer support, and customer satisfaction for our products and services. This position:

  • Manages and issues product quotes/discounts (i.e. New Lab), bid responses, and custom orders for all customer inquiries received (domestic/international, direct, or through-distribution partners)
  • Contributes actively to create and drive Lucigen’s sales opportunities in targeted regions and/or accounts where additional account penetration is required
  • Works closely and in collaboration with the KAM’s to enhance working relationships with key accounts
  • Manages the “Key Accounts Program” with recognition and incentives that lead to strengthening relationships, including support of global distribution partners
  • Communicates and executes sales plan and goals; reports on key business metrics and other data to senior management via monthly dashboard, or other sales reporting that may be requested
  • Designs, implements, and manages processes that allow the team to effectively cover both inbound/outbound calls and to provide field-based implementation support
  • In conjunction with KAM’s, successfully forecasts and achieves quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Works closely with internal departments (i.e. Operations, Shipping, Customer Service, etc.) to coordinate on key initiatives in support of the customer and to achieve superior customer satisfaction
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing communication and team operating mechanisms to ensure that appropriate information (customer insights, market trends, and competitive data) is shared and that collaboration within and outside of the team is taking place
  • Responsible for opportunity management using CRM to document customer information and track opportunities; assigns tasks to KAM’s as applicable
  • Handles inbound client calls, qualifies clients and establishes, nurtures and grows client relationships at the appropriate levels
  • Recognizes and communicates sales opportunities to KAM’s and collaborates effectively with team to bring potential opportunities to closure; transfers accounts and customer information to KAM’s
  • Follows up on all new customer leads and sample requests to ensure touch point with all customers for cross selling; warms up leads for KAM’s
  • In partnerships with marketing or KAM’s, this position will support initiatives for social selling and outbound projects including, but not limited to, LinkedIn, e-blasts, web conferences, tradeshows and conferences

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, account management, or customer service. Additional requirements include:

  • At least 2 years of team leadership experience
  • Demonstrated skill set in effective sales process and deal closure
  • Proven and effective time management, reporting, prioritization, and delegation skills
  • Outstanding influencing, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities, with demonstrated experience reporting and tracking sales metrics
  • Ability to effectively listen, acknowledge, and show calm when dealing with customers on all level issues/complaints
  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Experience in supporting a global sales organization, including direct sales and through-distribution partners
  • Must have a solid understanding of ERP systems, preferably using Microsoft Dynamics GP, and have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and a CRM system
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Qualified candidates must also demonstrate excellent organizational skills, problem solving, and decision making skills while working under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a complex and rapidly growing company
  • Results-oriented, ensuring targets are met on time and on budget
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgment and reliability
