Job Description

The Seattle office is looking for a Head of Sequencing Operation to join our growing team and be a part of supporting BGI during this exciting time and be part of a fast-paced and cutting edge industry with global impact.

In this role, we are looking for a dynamic self-starter who will oversee the development and operations of new and joint sequencing labs primarily in North America in support of the organization’s regional partnerships and projects. This role will be accountable for providing strategic thought partnership in lab development, the overall lab implementation and management on behalf of BGI, as well as coordination with Shenzhen HQ sequencing operations.

Additionally, the Head of Sequencing Operation will provide technical expertise on sequencing technology and support to key strategic partnerships and projects with academia, non-profit organizations and business.

Qualified candidate will have knowledge and experience of running a lab and an understanding of the evolving sequencing market, as well as proven experience in the supervision of personnel.

Qualified candidate will manage day-to-day operations including logistics, quality control, and training etc.

Requirements

Direct NGS experience running a high throughput genomic lab and demonstrated management of workflow

Demonstrated technical expertise and experience in NGS

PhD in Genomics or life science related majors

10+ years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience, in life science industry, a academic health center or research enterprise in related functions

Experience planning, budgeting, strategy, and communications within an organization

Fluent in English. Understandings of Mandarin Chinese a plus.

Some international and domestic travel is required.

Preferred

CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory experience a plus

Experience in a start-up or rapidly growing organization and/or track record of developing and managing processes, operations and technology

Experience working in a global and/or matrixed organization
