The European Molecular Biology Laboratory is searching for Group Leaders. EMBL offers a highly collaborative, uniquely international culture. It fosters top quality research by promoting a vibrant environment consisting of young, independent researchers with access to outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and state-of-the-art core facilities. EMBL is an inclusive, equal opportunity, family friendly employer offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to an international research organisation.
The Genome Biology Unit is looking for outstanding candidates with a proven track record in genomics technology development, and its application to exciting interdisciplinary research. We particularly encourage candidates using innovative technology development to address specific aspects of gene expression regulation (transcriptional, post-transcriptional or post-translational regulation), genome engineering, single-cell biology, single molecule approaches or any area of genome biology that dissects and/or models complex processes.
This independent group leader position provides a very competitive package, including access to outstanding Ph.D. students and post-doctoral fellows, state-of-the-art core facilities, and a generous research budget to support cutting edge research in a highly interdisciplinary department (including groups with expertise in Genomics, Genetics, Proteomics, Computer science, and Microfluidics). The department focuses on dissecting fundamental principles of how different layers of molecular information (DNA, RNA, Protein, Metabolites) are regulated, and interconnected to give rise to diverse phenotypes, and how variation alters those processes.
EMBL generally hires group leaders early in their career and provides a supportive, collegial and family friendly environment in which to develop ambitious and original research. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, a comprehensive pension scheme, medical, educational and other social benefits, as well as financial support for relocation and installation, including family, and the availability of an excellent child care facility on campus. EMBL is committed to achieving gender balance and strongly encourages applications from women. Appointment will be based on merit alone. Further information about research in the Genome Biology Unit and at EMBL can be found at the EMBL web page.Application Instructions
