Job Description

Genetics Exploration of Neuromuscular Disorders A 2-year post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Pr. Nicolas Levy in the INSERM unit UMR S_910 “Medical Genetics and Functional Genomic”, Marseille Medical School, France. This position is funded by a grant from European Community and is available starting April 2015.The research projects focus on genetic exploration of patients affected with neuromuscular disorders. They involve setting up new approaches to develop molecular diagnosis as well as analyzing the impact of genetic variation on phenotype spectrum observed in these diseases. The goal of the project is to unravel the mechanism by which neuromuscular gene networks are affected by diseases-causing-mutations and to elucidate their impact on muscle during developmental phases, homeostasis and repair. This study will be conducted in the team of Myologie Translationnelle headed by Drs. Marc Bartoli and Martin Krahn

Requirements

Candidates holding a PhD with a strong background in Genetics/Genomics/Molecular Biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates must meet the following requirements:

- Experience in analysis of next-generation sequencing data, such as quality control of sequencing output, alignment and DNA variant analysis is required.

- Must be able to work in Linux, to develop and optimize data analysis pipelines as well as to critically evaluate open source genomics tools

- Must be at ease in reading scientific literature and communicating in English

- Only highly motivated candidates will be considered
