Job Description

Invitae is seeking a BE/BC genetic counselor to join our clinical team in providing remote genetic counseling support to clinicians as part of our Clinical Consult Services team.  He/she is responsible first and foremost for providing an excellent customer service experience by being available to customers to answer clinical questions, talk through cases, make recommendations and provide clinically useful information.  This individual is also responsible for maintaining up to date clinical information on the Invitae product offering, which can be provided to clients.  In addition, the genetic counselor will have some duties within the larger clinical genomics group, including some report-writing.

The role involves the following responsibilities:

  • Point person for client’s clinical inquiries (via phone and email)
  • Call results out to referring clients when appropriate
  • Review orders for clinical appropriateness
  • Organize and maintain database of clinical reference materials
  • Closely follow publications, conferences, listservs, and developments in respective clinical area
  • Write reports in clinical area
  • Participate in or take leadership of particular operations and development projects as required
  • Maintain ABGC certification and appropriate state licensure
  • Some travel required
  • Additional duties as needed
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of clinical genetic counseling experience in Cancer genetics
  • ABGC Board Certification
  • Genetic counseling licensure (or ability to obtain licensure)
  • Excellent organizational and task management skills
  • Comfort with large panel testing, discussing clinical recommendations for a wide variety of genes
