Invitae is seeking a BE/BC genetic counselor to join our clinical team in providing remote genetic counseling support to both clinicians and patients as part of our Clinical Consult and GC Services teams.  Patient care experience in cancer genetics is a requirement.  Telegenetics experience is preferred, but not required.  



  • Serve as point person for clients’ clinical inquiries (via phone and email)
  • Call results out to referring clients when appropriate
  • Review orders for clinical appropriateness
  • Closely follow publications, conferences, listservs, and developments in respective clinical area
  • Write reports in clinical area
  • Participate in or take leadership of particular operations and development projects as required
  • Provide genetic counseling to patients both before and after genetic testing (via phone and video)
  • Maintain ABGC certification and appropriate state licensure
  • Some travel may be required
  • Minimum 2 years experience in cancer genetics, including direct patient care experience
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to understand, synthesize, and coherently evaluate complex genetic information
  • Ability to work independently, but also in a collaborative manner with a various group.
  • Experience in a CLIA diagnostic laboratory, familiarity with next-generation sequencing, and/or knowledge of advanced methods of copy number detection is a plus
  • ABGC Board Certification
  • Genetic counseling licensure (or ability to obtain licensure) in California and other states as needed
  • Excellent organizational and task management skills
  • Comfort with large panel testing, discussing clinical recommendations for a wide variety of genes
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish strongly preferred
