Job Description

2 positions (1 full time; 1 part time maternity leave coverage from approximately early March 2015 through mid-June).

 Provides genetic consultation services for clinicians ordering genetic testing. Ideally, position would be located at laboratory site in Spokane, however telecommuting with periodic travel to laboratory is an option. Major responsibilities include:

 

-          Client liaison regarding testing strategies and follow-up recommendations

-          Review of received cases for testing appropriateness

-          Coordination of complex cases

-          Communication of abnormal and complex results to professional clients

-          Critical review of laboratory reports

-          Key contributor to sales/marketing documents

-          Involvement in new test development

-          Develops, maintains, and updates policies and protocols regarding genetic counseling services

-          Provides clinical expertise to laboratory team through policy development

-          Assists with recruiting, interviewing, and training new genetic counselors and selected other laboratory staff

Requirements

-          Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling (or equivalent) with board certification or eligibility.

-          Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

-          Telephone counseling skills.

-          Familiarity with microarray and molecular testing methods preferred.

-          Clinical and/or laboratory experience is a plus but not required.

-          Superior organizational skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail. 

-          Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

-          Ability to learn software programs and use Microsoft Office systems.
