Job Description

Reporting to the Business Controller, the financial reporting analyst will help support a wide variety of management reporting, month-end close, and financial planning activities.  This individual will work closely with other members of the finance team as well as key business partners across the organization.  The ideal individual will be a team player with strong data query / data manipulation skills and will have a bias for seeking ways to improve and automate business processes.



  • Prepare slides for monthly CFO board presentation
  • Perform monthly financial reporting:
    • Order, revenue, and product mix attainment vs. plan
    • COGS and Operating Expenses actuals vs. plan (identifying key drivers of variances)
    • CAPEX engagement actuals vs. plan (identifying key drivers of variances)
    • Meet with selected cost center owners to review monthly results and identify any risks to maintaining spending to budgeted levels
  • Provide weekly updates to revenue reporting file
  • Collaborate with HR on weekly headcount reporting
  • Provide input into selection of new financial reporting / BI tool


  • Prepare materials consumption reporting and related cross charge journal entries
  • Manage month-end IT and Facilities allocations process
  • Prepare management Profit & Loss reporting as well as commentary on key variances vs. plan


  • Partner with selected cost center owners to develop and refine budgets
  • Ensure forecast model has been updated with actual results
  • Modify forecast model to reflect any management structure changes that have occurred since the last forecast cycle
  • Assist in migration from excel-based planning model to a more robust enterprise-level tool


  • BA or BS degree in finance/accounting or related discipline
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with an ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and interpreting financial statements from both an external reporting and management reporting perspective
  • Two to three years of relevant professional experience with solid Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience working with financial reporting / BI tools such as Essbase, Cognos, or Host Analytics preferred
  • Exposure to SAP would be helpful
  • Experience working for a manufacturing company would be a plus
