Job Description

Candidates required to have laboratory experience with applications such as next generation sequencing (NGS), Sanger sequencing, digital and/ or real-time PCR assays. Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is an advantage.  Individuals must be self-motivated and goal oriented with a strong desire for success. The successful candidate has strong technical molecular biology knowledge and the drive to serve as the regional technical expert supporting one or more Regional Sales Managers and their teams.

The role requires direct selling of company products through the provision of product demonstrations, customer technical product education and technical product evaluation support on an as needed basis. The successful candidate will execute the sales plan to achieve established sales and financial goals; call on current and prospect customers; lead customer product evaluations through the  cross-functional engagement of technical, scientific and in-house commercial personnel to drive customer capture; supports resolution of current user issues and problems through partnering with the technical support team; may participate in the establishment of sales targets and design of the territory's sales plan; and controls sales expenses.

Self-motivation and planning to achieve performance targets will be required.  Complete and timely submission of paperwork associated with job description is required.   Other duties may be assigned.  Quotas will be assigned and compensation and performance will be based on quotas achieved.  Overall performance and reviews will be based on quotas and other performance criteria. 

Requirements
  • Work directly with all customers and prospects within a specified geographic territory.
  • Develop business/sales funnel opportunities through customer and business contacts.
  • Work with Regional Sales/Account Manager to develop and execute short- and mid-term sales tactics to meet/exceed sales & customer goal(s).
  • Act as regional field product technical expert supporting complex technical sales discussions with current and prospect customers.
  • Provide on time forecasts.
  • Manage customer relationships and perform all aspects of the sales process.
  • First screen for incoming leads: First-line phone follow-up of leads to qualify interest levels, current product choice/situation and provide front-line responses to technical product questions.
  • Generate and deliver business review presentations to accounts and at regional meetings.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure regional sales tools and materials are available and fit-for-purpose to support driving successful attainment of territory goals.
  • Assist with planning and organization of regional and national customer relation relations events, participating in tradeshows, seminars and workshops and conducting technical seminars in the field.
  • Drive territory business growth through new customer acquisition and current customer retention activities across designated sales geography through active prospecting and current customer management activities.  Maximize customer-face time by partnering with marketing to ensure collection of critical field intelligence on product needs.
  • Provide detailed customer engagement reporting through accurate and timely record keeping in Salesforce.com.
  • Provide timely feedback to in-house product management and marketing team to ensure maintenance of product tracking reports, including marketing share data, and competitor information.
