Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pacific Biosciences™ is seeking a Field Applications Specialist, with a strong customer focus to support the SMRT™ sequencing workflow and its applications in Germany.
  • Account planning and management as part of a regional strategy in conjunction with local sales colleague.
  • The ability to deliver presentations of SMRT sequencing technology and its applications to a wider audience in a competitive environment.
  • Excellent customer facing communication skills both in a pre- and post-sales context is essential.
  • The candidate will employ expertise to deliver high quality training events to enable new users and to implement specific applications.
  • The ability to communicate and coordinate between cross functional teams to conduct beta tests, to support early access programs of new products and protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and customer management skills to effectively resolve /overcome technical challenges.
  • The candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with customers, as well as other scientists and engineers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Requirements

Position Requirements: Personal Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related Life Science field
  • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written German and English
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Comfortable engaging with customers and with an internal team across Europe and the United States
  • Highly motivated and proven ability to work independently, e.g. in a home office based position
  • The role is field based and approximately 50% of work time will be outside home office
  • Familiar with the sales process and used to develop account strategies
  • Ability to build strong and lasting customer relationships
  • Ability to work in a strong team driven and highly performing organization
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and growing work environment. Highly self-organized and responsive.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license


Technical Skills and Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in field applications and pre- and post- sales customer support, in installation, training, validation, implementation, and application, of next-generation DNA sequencing instruments and assays
  • Extensive hands-on experience in operating next-generation DNA sequencing instruments and assays
  • Experienced in molecular genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry laboratory techniques
  • Basic experience in data analysis of next-generation DNA sequencing
  • Experienced in conducting scientific presentations to internal and external audiences for pre- and post-sales activities
  • Sufficient familiarity with the manuscript publication process and associated experimental design requirements
  • Excellent trouble-shooting abilities
  • Experience of a diagnostic or regulated work environment would be a benefit
  • Experience bioinformatics tools to support next-generation DNA sequencing would be a benefit
