Job Description

Responsible to provide pre-sale support, including product demonstrations, seminars, team selling activities, as well as post-sale support, training and/or customer application support within the assigned territory for Laboratory Hardware Modality. Support achievement of commercial business objectives and high level of customer satisfaction/patronage for GE Healthcare Life Sciences products and services. Essential Responsibilities • Support customers, Account Managers, and Protein Separations/AKTA Sales Specialists within the North Central Zone (WV, OH, IN, MI, WI, IL, MO, IA, KS, NE, MN, ND, SD).

• Provide expert technical and product leadership during sales process by demonstrating superior product and application knowledge for AKTA and to "design in" GE chromatography resins.

• Support customer purification and manufacturing projects by providing product and applications information, answering inquiries, giving presentation, assist with logistics, and provide limited bench work.

• Accountable to the Laboratory Hardware Modality for performance of Zone sales goals; work with your assigned area sales team to meet and/or exceed these sales goals.

• Develop, coordinate and deliver product training to Customers, Account Managers, and Sales Specialists on products and applications within assigned territory.

• Improve customer satisfaction and retention through trouble shooting and continuing education on optimization of customer processes.

• Maintain productive communication with customers and gather information on the customers' needs and relay that information to the sales force in order to identify present and future customer needs and to enhance customer relations.

• Support local trade shows and professional conferences by performing product demonstration and seminars.

• Provide competitive product insight and provide regular feedback on customer satisfaction and needs to internal stakeholders.

• Communicate regularly with Modality Manager and Sales Specialist team to ensure coverage of pre and post-sale customer support and training.


• Strong working knowledge of chromatographic instrumentation and separations science techniques.

• BS Degree in Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry), Engineering, or related field.

• Good understanding and knowledge of the BioPharm/Biotech Industry.

• Minimum 3 years of post-Bachelor's experience as a Product Specialist, Account Manager, FAS, Technical Specialist, or Research Scientist.

• Willing and able to travel extensively within your specified geographic region as well as to nationwide sales meetings and tradeshows (WV, OH, IN, MI, WI, IL, MO, IA, KS, NE, MN, ND, SD).

• Proficiency in computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite products

• To the extent you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned/leased, privately owned/leased or rental vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record

• Strong presentation skills (public speaking and lecture experience desired)

• Ability to multi-task effectively and manage multiple priorities at one time

• Must reside within assigned territory.

Degree in biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, or related field

• Hands on experience with GE Life Sciences AKTA instrumentation, UNICORN software, and GE chromatographic media/resins

• Experience with Biotech/BioPharm process development

• Experience in chromatography column packing and/or understanding of scale up principals

• Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) principals

• Understand of validation and FDA regulated environment (GLP/GMP)

• Strong leadership skills (respected by peers and leadership for contributions to the business)

• Demonstrated ability to understand and present complex material in understandable terms

• Demonstrated interpersonal & communication skills, ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to diverse external customers, global counterparts and to team members in other functional areas.

• Solid problem solving skills. Ability to manage and resolve conflict, communicate issues and propose solutions to both internal team members and external customers.

• Team oriented with a customer satisfaction mindset

• Preference for candidates located in or around Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, or St. Louis.
