Job Description

The role

DNA Script is looking for a dynamic, talented individual to join the Enzyme Engineering team as an Engineer. Your role will be to help us evolve proprietary enzyme variants and develop an optimized enzymatic reaction process within an exciting, high-profile(?) oligonucleotide synthesis project.



•             Design mutagenesis libraries via structural understanding and bioinformatic tools

•             Perform cloning and PCR experiments to construct mutagenesis libraries

•             Express and purify enzyme variants in various scales from 96well plate to 1 L

•             Screen mutagenesis libraries by activity, stability, expression level and other features specific to our oligonucleotide synthesis process

•             Characterize optimized variants and validate their performance in multistep oligonucleotide synthesis experiments using liquid-handling robots

•             Develop assays for screening several enzyme features

•             Engagement in good laboratory practices

•             Support the team when needed


Qualifications and experience


•             Masters’ Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry

•             ‘Hand on’ working experience in molecular biology or biochemistry lab

•             Familiarity with protein handling and purification

•             Familiarity with DNA handling and purification

•             Familiarity with protein structure and sequence analysis

•             Strong record keeping skills

•             Strong interpersonal skills

•             Good command of the English language



•             Experience in directed evolution of proteins

•             Basic knowledge in Python scripting

•             Experience in working with liquid-handling robot
