Job Description:
The Biodesign Center for Single Molecule Biophysics is seeking an Electronics Engineer, Sr. with experience in low-noise analog measurement to join a group of physicists, chemists and device engineers working on the development of a solid state DNA sequencing chip based on measurement of electron tunneling currents.

Essential Duties:
Optimize existing measurement equipment for lowest noise and highest frequency performance.
Set up and optimize new custom electronics being developed by a subcontractor, designed to acquire multiple data channels in parallel.
Participate in electrical measurements on devices in collaboration with other group members.
Set up software for data acquisition, storage and sharing.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field AND five (5) years of engineering or related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in research at the Master’s degree level
Demonstrated knowledge with the biomedical industry
Experience in low-noise analog signal acquisition and digital interfacing with analog circuits (5 years)

Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflict
Communicate to perform essential functions

The Biodesign Center for Single Molecular Biophysics uses nanotechnology to study the physical processes on which life is based using the simplest model systems — those that exist on the level of a single molecule or several molecules. By doing this, we can gain a better understanding of gene regulation, molecular signaling and molecular transport in cells that will lead to improved biosensors and other new technologies.
