Job Description

Director of Research & Development/Engineering, Full-Time, Biomedical Lab Equipment

Protein Technologies, Inc. a profitable biotechnology company in Tucson is seeking an a director of R&D to expand its development efforts.

Lead a team of R&D professionals to deliver on-time, on-budget new product development programs. Lead the implementation of ISO methodology across the site. The role includes hand-on development and engineering, in addition to the leadership of the Engineering team.


The successful candidate will communicate productively with all stakeholders, including customers, manufacturing, service, and sales personnel. The director will manage all aspects of new product development (80%) and sustaining engineering (20%). The director will oversee compliance with design controls requirements, including requirements definition, phase reviews, and risk analysis. Productive collaboration with the Head of Manufacturing will allow for successful transitions of products from concept to finished design. The director will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, training, and development of R&D staff as well as for the departmental budget.

Must possess good written and verbal communications skills and work well with engineers, managers, programmers, chemists, assemblers and field service in a team environment.

An ability to focus and work rapidly with a "can-do" attitude.
Bachelors Degree or higher engineering degree.
