As Illumina has driven down the cost of whole human genome sequencing to a $1,000, never before has the opportunity to utilize next generation sequencing to improve human health been greater. Numerous governments, healthcare systems and translational researchers alike have recognized this opportunity and are seeking to implement the ability to sequence their populations or patients at a scale not seen to date. Doing so will require the provision of a next generation sequencing solution at a complementary scale inclusive of an integrated automation and bioinformatics ecosystem capable of supporting a rich translational research paradigm and clinical reporting environment.  The Director will work across numerous development projects and programs to integrate and ensure the interoperability of several technologies, wet assays and software platforms to deliver a comprehensive solution to enable this vision.

  • Work across numerous development teams to ensure interoperability of technologies, system architecture and language, workflow compatibility, and automation integration to deploy and commercialize a complex sequencing ecosystem
  • Identify key technical and/or resource gaps as they arise and work with dependent teams to resolve or escalate when appropriate
  • Aggregate technical requirements from existing and prospective customers to deliver a truly integrated solution with a rich customer experience
  • Collaborate with existing and prospective customers to deeply understand user profiles, system and operating requirements
  • Develop a roadmap that integrates future technologies, software and platforms into the aggregate solution
  • Work across teams to ensure deliverables from dependent projects are met, resolve gaps/risks when not, and escalate appropriately as required
  • Partner with commercialization teams to ensure system/solution deliverables are transferable to spectrum of customer sites
  • Transfer of deep technical knowledge such that a full solution can be supported in the field and consultative/professional services can be created to enable installation, customization, adoption, and utilization

  • Proven track record of having successfully executed large, complex development or integration projects involving multiple technologies and software systems to a spectrum of end users
  • Genomics experience a plus but not required
  • Interested in those with experience leading very complex integration programs from industries such as defense, high tech, and medical device
