Job Description

Our Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories is looking for an experienced, board certified laboratory director to manage and grow our Molecular Genetics Laboratory. This positon will complement our team of world-renowned colleagues in the Complement, Immunology, Microbiology, and Mycobacteriology Laboratories.  Salary and academic rank is commensurate with experience.

Summary

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, direction and administration of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory in accordance with Federal and State Regulations governing clinical laboratories.  The successful candidate will provide excellent laboratory services to internal clients, referral customers, and industry clients working with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, the Business Development Director, Director of Quality, and the individual Laboratory Directors on issues related to the overall advancements of Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

  • Persuasive professional communicator at all levels--customer, employee, and executive leadership and market influencers--with global industry and executive contacts.  
  • Exceptional analytic and decision-making skills, with proven ability to identify business issues, provide strategic and tactical framework, and analyze relevant financials.  
  • Negotiation and contract development experience.  
  • Knowledge of CAP, ISO 15189, and CLIA regulations.  
  • Leadership experience in laboratory operations.  
    Expertise in hands-on development of molecular diagnostic assays and bringing them through clinical validation and operational implementation.    

 

Certification and Licensure 

  • Board-certified by the American Board of Pathology, or similar certification with specialty training in molecular genetics.

 

Education 

  • MD or PhD in Molecular Biology required. 

 

Work Experience

  • 10 years post-fellowship experience working in Clinical and Molecular Diagnostic Genetics.
  • Track record of successful commercial assay development.
  • Leadership responsibilities of at least 3 to 5 years required.
