Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will have deep experience in the use of a wide variety of state-of-the-art technologies, especially next-generation sequencing, associated with the genomic interrogation of human biospecimens, as well as the ability to collaborate on the development and use of appropriate bioinformatics pipelines to interpret data from these technologies. Reporting to the Director, Translational Research and Genomic Medicine, the incumbent will facilitate implementation of the molecular diagnostic laboratory component of the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM), with the responsibility of obtaining CLIA-certification and CAP-accreditation.  In addition to supervision of laboratory technologists, the incumbent will work closely with leadership from other operational units of the CGM, including the Division of Clinical Genetics, and the Biospecimen Repository Facility and Protocol Support Laboratory. The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to direct a clinical cancer molecular diagnostics facility, using NGS technology to interrogate both somatic mutational profiles in patient tumor specimens as well as germline mutational profiles in patients deemed to be at high genetic risk for cancer.   




  • Doctoral degree in medical and/or life sciences

  • Ten or more years of experience in laboratory science of human cancer genetics and genomics

  • Leadership experience with respect to laboratory teams

  • Experience in obtaining extramural funding for cancer genetics/genomics research programs

  • A record of peer-reviewed publications in these areas

  • Strong speaking and writing skills

  • Proven ability to interact with collaboratively with industrial and academic partners
