Job Title: Director, Infectious Disease

Reports To: Deputy Director, BGI Research

Job Summary
Complete Genomics is looking for an exceptional expert and leader for a Director of Infectious Disease position. This individual will lead the infectious disease research team, based in China, with the mission to design the In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products for infectious diseases. The individual will also lead the effort to translate these ideas to diagnostic approaches for clinical development through collaboration with other groups and departments. Additionally, the individual will perform cutting-edge research in omics to discover advanced pathways and mechanisms that contribute to the pathogenesis of infectious diseases and will produce impactful publications from this research.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Design Nanoparticles (NPS)/MS-based new infectious disease IVD product, provide clear, concise and insightful written analyses and recommendations.
Validate and transfer infectious diseases IVD products, manage internal processes and progress the portfolio while ensuring appropriate documentation, budgeting and reporting.
Develop, manage and implement the multifaceted disease strategies.
Negotiate, execute and manage complex, performance-based investments.
Perform omics studies to explore the pathogenesis of infectious diseases by conducting high quality interactions with clear and consistent communications with partners in the field.
Develop and coordinate grant applications that contribute to the design of new strategies, collaborations and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
Perform other work related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in microbiology or molecular biology or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of management experience and knowledge of regulatory issues.
Strong background and understanding of diagnostic product development. Experience with diagnostic products related to infectious disease preferred.
Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in host defense and innate immunity or NGS technology preferred.
Other Requirements
Fluent communication skills in English and Mandarin required.
Travel at 50%+ between China and U.S.
