Job Description

As a Development Engineer for BD Genomics you will work as part of the Protocol Development Team, in the development of automated machines for biological applications. Position Summary:

  • Support the development of automated machines for biological applications; integrating liquid handling, thermal management, pneumatics, robotic and electronic subsystems.
  • Support the debugging, verification, validation and reliability testing of instrument systems.
  • Analyze interpret test results.
  • Collaborate with the Applications/Biology group to optimize the performance of instrument systems.
  • Report and present system performance data to the Engineering and Application/Biology groups.
  • Support transfer to manufacture, interacting with the Operations team and providing technical expertise when required.
  • Execute activities within R&D to meet project goals.
  • Development of test plans & methods.
Requirements

A minimum of a bachelor's degree. Ideal candidate will have a degree in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering or Biomedical Engineering

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Automation for Life Sciences with experience with instrumentation, liquid handling systems, robots, motion control and thermal management.
  • Strong presentation, writing, and communication skills.
    • Advanced analytical, problem solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills
    • Strong time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Experience with Labview and C/C#programming
  • Sequencing sample preparation workflows and applications
  • Experience in the diagnostics market
  • Working with NGS related laboratory procedures is preferred
